Full Description

A curvilinear length of old road is located to the west of Druimbasbie and south of the present road. It measures c. 115m long by c. 5m wide, and is isolated from the present road by a linear mound of rubble. Where exposed, the surface of the road comprises a metalled surface. This site continues as Site Nos 3, 4 and 5.
Site 3 - (NC 7700 6326 - NC 7713 6333)
A looping section of the old road c. 4-5m wide, was located at Druimbasbie, to the south of the present road. Approx. 37m of the western end and c.42m of the eastern end of this old road lie within the survey corridor. The road surface, where exposed, comprised a metalled surface of small angular chips. This site continues northwards and eastwards as Site No. 4 and is depicted on the current OS 1963 map.
Site 4 - (NC 7713 6337 - NC 7721 6342)
A c. 155m curvilinear stretch of old road is present immediately north of Druimbasbie. This old road measures c.5m wide with a metalled surface of the small stone chips. It is a continuation of the old road located at Site No. 3.
Site 5 - (NC 7786 6392)
Approx. 35m of the old road was located immediately north of the present road. The road measured c. 9m wide and was bounded to the north by a slight bank, c0.5m high. A quarry lay immediately to the north-west of this road, within which a heap of stone, most likely modern, was present.
