Full Description

An archaeological survey was undertaken in parts of land belonging to the John Muir Trust. The areas include :-
1)Lower Strath Shinery - eight sheiling-huts, rectangular structure and older house.
2)Loch Carn Mharasaid (north side) - ten sheiling-huts and a possible bothy.
3)Loch Carn Mharasaid (south side) - six sheiling-huts and hut-circle.
4)Coastal Area, Sandwood and Port Beag - Sandwood House, Pre-improvement House and Enclosure, stone line enclosure, Sandwood Bay Homestead.
5)From Sandwood Bay to Port Beag - stone shelter, field system,
fisherman's bothy, three sheiling-huts.
6) Polin - Dun, terraces and enclosures, features opposite Eilean na h-Aiteig, .
7)Droman - settlement site and enclosure and shell deposit, enclosure, shell-covered mounds, stone scatterthree hut-circles.
Small finds were recovered from this site- stone and coin.
