Full Description

Visited by J.Wood in September 2001.

Seven GPS readings taken on same spot. Reading 1 tracked 4 satellites; reading 7 tracked 7 satellites.

It is apparently more accurate than the pre-existing 6 fig SMR grid ref. at NG 875 329. All the readings agreed to 8 figs. The distance from reading 1 to reading 7 is 7.2m; the average reading comes in the middle of the line. NGR corrected.

The cairn seems to be genuine, but it has been badly damaged with two trenches cut through at right angles. It has also apparently received some field clearance material on top.

See photos.
