Full Description
Known as the Cartomie Range, it was a 600 yard range situated on the edge of the raised beach. It appears as a mound with a dip behind with room for targets. The metal work was removed and taken to Cawdor approx. 1994 (J Macrae). The range was used by the Cameron and Seaforth Highlanders and also by the Norwegians who were camped there during WW11 and the Edderton Rifle Club. Information from D Mackay who lived near the range and used to watch the bullets falling into the sea and used to watch the tracer bullets at night. The target was made of canvas. D Mackay's father shot at the range. (see certificate in assoc. docs. File). Edderton ammunition store at NH 7080 8527.
