A stone built fireplace with chimney and hearth has been built approx. 5m to the N of the A939 and 9 miles from Grantown-On-Spey. These structures may be connected with the construction of a road or trackway in the area and they may have served as temporary camps for road workers, who may have covered the fireplace with a sheet or tarpaulin, to make a type of tent (bender) as the travelling tinkers used to call them.
The chimney is 4.44m high and 1.80m wide on its W elevation. It has a cement mortar coping feature near the top of the chimney flue and a painted union jack flag just below it.
It has been suggested that these temporary buildings are more of a feature on the east than on the west.
