Full Description
Structure (possible building?).
NE corner of rectangular structure/pit, dug into a moderate S-dipping slope at the base of the hillside rising from the level grassy meadow. The structure is defined by several large boulders, especially prominent on its E side downhill for 5m and the 7m long contour-parallel upper sidewall trends 287 degrees from here. The interior of the structure is sub-horizontal, with a steep N backwall, opening onto the level meadow to the S. There are several pieces of loose timber lying about, which may indicate that it was formerly a building of sorts, maybe a small shelter for cattle in the meadow.
The only substantial wall is the E wall, which runs into the field boundary of Feature 003 (above), the remainder of the structure being clearly defined by the excavated internal area. The boulders in the E wall stand 0.3m high and are up to 0.8m wide. <1>
