Hollows.
Immediately adjacent to the platform of Feature 046 (above) to its SE, there is a side-by-side pair and a stand-alone linear, grass-covered hollow, excavated into the steeply rising valley-side of Allt a’Mhuilinn (see Plate 11). Due to their situation, they have steep, north-eastern back walls and open, south-western front faces, and measure approximately 8m x 2m, and the joined pair has a 2m thick dividing bank. The most northerly of the pair trends 084 degrees up the steep slope, its southern counterpart trends 056 degrees up the same slope, and the lone hollow, 6m to the S, trends 062 degrees up the slope.

It is not recognised what these features represent; maybe excavated areas for furnaces, or storage areas for charcoal fuel, with the supposition that they are connected with the smelting operations of the vicinity. <1>
