Full Description

The 1st edition OS map (of c.1870) shows a courtyard farmstead complex with associated outbuildings, tracks and enclosures at this location. The farmstead is annotated as 'Balnacraig'.
The 2nd edition OS coverage (of c. 1900) shows only two small rectilinear unroofed structures with no track or annotation. Current Landmark mapping depicts a house in this spot called Linnhe Cottage that seems to be of recent construction.

To the immediate north of his area, over the location of one of the small roofed outbuildings depicted on the 1st edition OS (at NH 73064 39541), a planning application (ref: 03/00059/OUTIN) has led to the submission of a Photographic Record by K Matheson. Few surface remains of the former structure are visible in the photographs.
