Full Description

Site to S of the church, NB church wall terraced up hillside, small area of open land (ownership uncertain) footpath and then this site to S. On 1st ed OS a row of buildings is depicted. These were apparently demolished in the 1960s.
Programme of arch work to assess & record survival of arch remains as response to planning app 02/NA/159. Evaluation 3.2003 revealed that foundations of this building row survives. Buildings of sandstone. Several pits (cess?) were identified to N of line at W end. 1 had pottery/glass remains towards base. Pottery seen on site visit prob early-mid C19, + part of opalescent pressed glass bowl. Awaiting full report. - HAW 3/2003
