Full Description

Enclosure (angular).
NW corner of a small, 10m x 10m square, deep heather and bracken-covered enclosure, with tumbled walls surviving to 0.6m high and 1.5m wide, the most prominent being the N and S, downhill-trending. The upper, W wall is almost level with the exterior ground surface and drops 0.5m into the interior, and the lower, E wall has little trace – maybe it has fallen down the steep side of the river terrace, directly below. The N wall exposes a good cross section in its original construction. It is 0.9m wide, with large boulders forming the exteriors and there is an internal rubble fill.

The walls trend 010 degrees (contour parallel) and 1000 (slope parallel). The NW interior corner has been later re-used as a deer-stalking hide, with stone robbed from the enclosure to form a 2m x 2m square, open to the S. The enclosure is set on a heather-covered, gently SE-sloping terrain, on the shoulder of the steeply incised Allt Smeòrail river valley below. <1>
