Full Description

Grouse Butt.
Well-preserved, 3m x 3m, U-shaped grouse butt is the uppermost in this row, set into the W bank of a small burn, so that the internal height of the leading peat wall is 1m, whereas the external height is only 0.4m (see Plate 36). The walls are 0.7m thick and the entrance opens to 103 degrees.

Site of the 60m high anemometer, with its associated circular array of steel guy ropes, set on the broad crest of the boggy, sedge and peat-covered watershed between the Allt a'Mhuilinn valley and the Strath of Kildonan. <1>
