The 1st edition Ordnance Survey map (of c. 1870) shows a small settlement complex with associated outbuildings, tracks and enclosures at this location, either side of the confluence of a small burn with the River Findhorn. The buildings to the west of the river are annotated 'Polochaig'. The 2nd edition OS depicts these buildings as 'Shenachie' , a name by whch the area is still known today.
