Full Description

remains of extensive weirs/cruives on the river. The most northerly (ie nearest to coast) at GR given above. These are markerd on 1st ed OS. Very obvious different build and some are still maintained for the modern salmon fishing. Those up by the Red Smiddy are supposed to replace earlier ones linked to the ironworks that are early C17 - HAW 7/2004
