Most westernmost of 4 buildings in terrace, depicted on 1st ed OS) on N side of Cathedral close. The remains of this scheduled for demolition to allow building of war memorial garden immediately adj the church (which has been cut across the original terrace).Planning app requires building recording and arch w brief on deposits.
Although local repute says that this was once a stable and more recently an "eyesore" where the Christmas Tree is placed each year. Evidence of blcked windows and doors to the building. The end nearest the High St seems to have been most recently infilled, one attendee of site meeting said he could recollect when there was a doorway/gates here.
Further info as work progresses (see photos). After stable became petrol station for the hotel opposite, but removed when rationing started to bite in WW2. At this time building de-roofed (by prisoners) to avoid rates - HAW 11/2003
