Full Description

NH52SE 3 576 240.

Centred at NH 576 240, on a SE-facing hillside, is a settlement of five circular stone-walled huts (A-E), which are scarped into the slope. (All hut dias. given between wall centres).
Hut 'A' is 13.0m in diam, eter, with the wall spread to c2.5m all round. There are three outer facing stones in the NE. The SE arc is overlaid by a recent ruined field wall running NE-SW. A gap in the E may be the entrance, but it is obscured by the field wall which overlays the S side of it.
'B' is 13.0m in diameter, with the wall of indeterminate thickness. On the N side is an upright boulder probably an inner facing stone. The NE arc is mutilated and the entrance is not apparent.
'C', on a shelf, is denuded and mutilated by an old track cutting through it. It measures c12.0m in diameter with the wall of indeterminate thickness. No entrance is discernable.
'D' is c9.5m in diameter, with the wall spread to c2.5m. The E arc is mutilated and no entrance is apparent.
'E' is c10.5m in diameter, with the wall spread to c2.5m increasing to c3.5m on the built up E side, where there is an ill-defined entrance. A boulder is incorporated in the wall in the SW arc.
Contemporary cultivation is indicated by the odd denuded field wall and a few stone clearance heaps. A series of natural terraces below hut 'A' may have been small plots, but the area has been under cultiv- ation associated with depopulation, and details are obscured.

Generally as described by F1, except that 170m NE of Hut 'B' are the wasted remains of another hut circle (F) levelled into the hill-slope and measuring 12.0m within a bank now spread to 3.0m on the N, but dest- royed elsewhere. The pronounced back scarp is about 1.0m high. The entrance is not apparent.
Huts C-E revised at 1/10,000.
