Full Description

Centred at NH 580 245 is a settlement of four circular stone-walled huts (A-D), with field system. (All measurements across the huts are between wall centres).
Hut 'A' measures c11.0m in diameter, with a wall spread to c3.0m, widening to c3.5m in the E arc, which is built up on the edge of a slope. The entrance in the ESE splays from c1.0m inside to c2.0m outside. There are three outer facing stones in the SE arc, one of which abuts onto the S side of the entrance.
'B', the best preserved, measures c12.5m in diameter, with the wall spread to c3.0m, increasing to c3.5m in the E where the ground slopes away. There are occasional outer facing stones visible around the N and W arcs, but insufficient for a reliable over-all measurement. The entrance splays from c1.0m inside to c2.5m outside. A field wall extends from the W arc of the hut in direction of hut 'C', and a lynchet runs from the S side of the entrance eastward for c 6.0m to join a field wall.
Hut 'C' measures c16.0m in diameter, with the denuded wall spread
to c2.5m all round. Three or four outer facing stones are visible, but insufficient for reliable measurement. The entrance is not evident. Inside the hut in the W arc is a curving depression, possibly due to quarrying.
'D', set into the E slope, measures c15.0m in diameter, with the wall spread to c3.0m all round. The mutilated entrance in the ESE is c3.0m wide.
The field system, comprising denuded field walls, lynchets and occasional stone clearance heaps, is ill-defined. Where visible the cultivation plots measure between c30.0m x c20.0m and c15.0m by c10.0m. Huts A,B,&C Surveyed at 1/10000, hut D surveyed at 6".
