Full Description
The remains of an old limekiln that is open ended on its northeast side, and the stonework of the other three walls are grass covered. It is currently at threat by the destructive nature of motorbike riding that has been taking place down the back beach in recent years.
An old limekiln is depicted on a plan by John Farey (1812). <1>
Remains of the lime kiln consist of a 'U' shaped structure defined by grass covered banks. Measures c. 5 m in width & c. 7 m in length. Opening on SE side. Small exposed rock has evidence of vitrification. <2>
