Full Description

“At the side of the A861, 0.50km NE of Gearradh, is a circle of small boulders 15m in diameter, in the centre of which is a pile of stones approximately 9m across and 1m high, with an extensive plunder pit in the middle. There is the possibility of a surrounding ditch and bank, but features are obscured by vigorous bracken.” (J Kirby, 1995)
The cairn is situated on the N side of the A 861 road and is as described by J Kirby. The kerb-stones are not continuous but a distinct arc curves round the NW and NE sectors and others are found intermittently around the perimeter. The kerb-stones are up to 0.45m high. The cairn, 1.30m high, is covered in bracken and fallen trees, as well as a birch tree growing on top. The external bank is best seen in the SE sector.
