Full Description

A rock with natural spring, where over the years people have placed coins in the crevasses. When the surrounding area was planted with conifers in 1969 a rowan tree growing above the well marking the spot was cut down. Before the day had ended the woodcutter had broken his leg! For several years the well was lost until 1981 when a sign was erected to mark the spot. The well was recorded by the Matheson family, who used to be the major landowners in the area, in 'Traditional Sites of Matheson History in Lochalsh' (1981).
