NH74SW 45 7037 4000 to 7000 4072. MR 2 (formerly Lin 501 [part of]).

The military road continues on a fairly straight course towards Inverness by what has become known as the Old Edinburgh Road. In this section it passes through the Culloden Forest as a typical, though walkable, Wade road.
J B Salmond 1938; W Taylor 1976; J and A Baker 1982.

The military road, as an overgrown track, averaging 3m wide, traverses Daviot Wood conifer plantation. Through much of this area there are segments of bank lying on either side of the track and in one stretch there is an area of tree felling, though that does not appear to be directly affecting it. Drainage in parts is fairly poor and the track suffers from some erosion.
M Logie (Highland Council) 1997; NMRS MS 1007/2.
