Full Description
NH52SE 8 5739 2369.
At NH 5739 2369, on a spur of Torr Shelly, is a dun (Information from E Meldrum, 22 Beaufort Road, Inverness) consisting of a ruinous semi-circular wall with its ends abutting onto the brink of a cliff in the SE, enclosing a roughly circular area about 20.0m in diameter. The base course of the outer wall face is visible for much of the periphery. Although no inner facing stones are evident, the spread of debris suggests that the wall was about 3.5m thick. The entrance is not evident. Outside the NE arc are three field walls of much later date. Surveyed at 1/10 000.
Visited by OS (A A) 19 June 1973
Generally as described by F1 except that the outer facing stones are laid in a series of 'straights' rather than forming a curvilinear line. Only one field wall of later date is apparent in the NE, but about 14.0m distant of the N wall of the dun are vestiges of an outer wall running along the upper edge of the knoll on which the dun stands.
Surveyed at 1/10,000.
