NH70SW 26 7273 0080 and 7283 0080
On the grass and heather-grown terraces to either side of the deeply incised Caochan a' Mhanaich, there is a group of remains including a hut-circle, some small cairns and a possible burial-cairn.
Surviving as a semicircular arc of bank, the hut-circle is situated on the W edge of the river-terrace, at NH 7273 0080, and has been robbed on the S and W arcs, probably in the construction of the adjacent head-dyke. It measures 7.5m in diameter within a stony bank spread to 1.1m in thickness and up to 0.4m in height (KING95 701). There are a few small cairns to the N of the hut-circle.
The possible burial-cairn, at NH 7283 0080, the rest of the small cairns and a bank are scattered along the river-terrace on the E bank of the Allt Gortan. The cairn is set on the S of the spread of small cairns and measures 8m in diameter by 0.6m in height (KING95 399). The small cairns extend N from the cairn over a distance of 190m in a band some 50m broad, and measure up 7m in diameter and 0.5m in height. To the N of the small cairns, the bank runs E from the edge of the terrace (NH 7279 0095) for about 40m before turning N, where it becomes difficult to follow in the peaty ground.
