NN69SW 13 6413 9000 to 6000 9358. MR 4 (formerly Lin 504).

The military road descends from a height of over 1,250 feet on the line of the A889 into Catlodge where it meets the Ruthven to Catlodge link road (NN69SW 12.00, MR 5) at NN 6335 9294. It then bears W along the modern road, leaving the A889 at Drumgask, where the latter road takes a steep descent to link with the A96 (Fort William to Newtonmore road). The military road takes a line above the modern road and a little to the S, passing in front of the Drumgask cottages, then going downhill to join the A86 a few yards further ahead. Less than a mile later, at NN 605 936, it heads into a field to the NW as a heather-covered track, soon afterwards linking with the drive to Dalchully House, traversing the Mashie Burn at NN 6002 9356 on a Wade bridge (NN69SW 14).

NN 6153 9371 to NN 6114 9355 two possible routes - N route follows farm track partially disused, S route visible as disused track ascending to Drumgask Farm (formerly Drumgask Hotel) from the W. No trace E of farm.
NN 6114 9355 to NN 6062 9362 modern road on line.
NN 6062 9362 to NN 6017 9350 Wade's road well-preserved disused track.
NN 6017 9350 to NN 6000 9358 modern road on line.
NN 6002 9356 Wade's bridge still in use, 3m wide between parapets.
Visited by OS (JB) February 1979, (NKB) February and March 1979.

The military road heads N believed to be overlaid by the A889. However, at NN 6345 9108 and NN 6341 9195 are two small sections of very overgrown track, visible close to the modern road, which may possibly be short stretches of military road. To the W of Catlodge the records held by the RCAHMS suggest two possible routes for the military line past Drumgask Farm. Either the route follows the modern metalled driveway to the farm or lies on a rough grass track lying a little below the driveway, with a very overgrown square stone culvert visible on the latter route. The military road leaves the A889 at NN 6015 9349 and traverses the Mashie Burn at NN 6002 9356 on a well-preserved military-style single span bridge (NN69SW 14), which carries the modern tarmac road leading to Dalchully House.
