Two subrectangular buildings are situated 70m to the W of the fank at Garrisdale, at the foot of a gentle slope below an area of lazy-bed cultivation (NG20NW 129.02). The larger building measures 12.1m from N to S by 4.5m transversely within boulder wall footings 1.7m in thickness and 0.6m in height. Externally, the building has rounded angles, but internally, with the exception of the SW, the angles are square. A pile of loose boulders in the SE corner is either the remains of a later pen or simply field clearance.
The second building lies 3m to the SW and measures 6.3m from NNW to SSE by 3.1m transversely within a wall 1.1m in thickness and 0.6m in height. The wall is faced with large boulders, and the core, which was probably of turf, is largely missing. Both internal and external corners of the building are rounded.
(Canna 559-60).
Visited by RCAHMS (IF, ARG), 5 April 1995.
