For township and farmstead of Garrisdale (NG 2163 0532), see NG20NW 44. For field-system, lazy-beds and field clearance cairns at NG 2123 0501 to NG 2179 0557, see NG20NW 129.02.
Four small subrectangular huts and a grass-grown mound are disposed to either side of a tributary of the burn at Garrisdale, about 100m to the E of the fank. Three of the huts are situated on the NE side of the burn; two of these have been terraced into the slope and are defined by stony banks, while the third lies on level ground on the edge of a terrace above. Internally, they measure 2.8m by 1.5m, 3.5m by 1.5m and 2.5m by 1.6m respectively. The fourth hut and the mound lie side-by-side on the opposite side of the burn. This hut measures 3m by 1.6m within a low stony bank spread up to 0.7m in thickness, and the mound, which lies nearest the burn, measures 8.6m by 6.7m and 0.6m in height. The area in which these huts lie is shown under cultivation on an 1805 estate map of Canna (for which, see NG20NW 44 and NG20NW 129.02).
(Canna 610-14).
