For field-system, lazy-beds and field clearance cairns between NG 2295 0509 and NG 2371 0556, see NG20NW 131.01.

These two grass-grown mounds lie on a terrace between two plots of lazy-bed cultivation (NG20NW 131.01). Oval on plan, the first is large measuring 14.8m from NNW to SSE by 10.2m and 0.8m in height. It contains a substantial amount of stones, some of which appears to be structural, but later field clearance has also been piled on top. The second mound lies immediately to the W and is only 3.5m in diameter and 0.2m in height. It too contains stones, several of which are firmly embedded on the N. Both mounds have been damaged by rabbit burrowing, but several artefacts have been recovered in the upcast from the burrows: sherds of pottery, a flake of bloodstone and a stone rubber were found at the large mound, while a single sherd of pottery was recovered from the smaller.
(Canna 446, 970).
Visited by RCAHMS (IMS, ARG), 30 June 1994.

A small sherd of Beaker, decorated with obliquely incised lines, was retrieved from a rabbit scrape into the smaller of the two mounds during fieldwork in May 2001. At the same time, further sherds of pottery were recovered from the larger mound (NG 2314 0510).
(Finds to be deposited in the NMS).
Visited by RCAHMS (ARG, SPH), 10 May 2001.
