NG20NW 74 2337 0581 and 2336 0582
For field-system, lazy-beds and field clearance cairns between NG 2295 0509 and NG 2371 0556, see NG20NW 131.01.
Two grass-grown subrectangular mounds, a small hut and an oval pen lie along the line of a field-wall which subdivides an area of lazy-bed cultivation (for which, see NG20NW 131.01) in the fields to the NW of Tarbert farmstead (NG20NW 26).
The first mound (NG 2337 0581) is situated on a slight rise and measures 11.2m from NNW to SSE by 6.4m and 0.5m in height; it contains a considerable quantity of stones and is overlain by the hut on the SSE. The hut is oval on plan and measures 5.2m by 3m within a stony bank 0.8m in thickness and 0.4m in height.
The second mound (NG 2336 0582) lies at the foot of a crag immediately to the NNW and is much smaller by comparison, measuring 5m from E to W by 3.7m and 0.3m in height. In this instance, the mound is overlain by the boulder footings of the field-wall.
The pen has been built against the N side of this same wall about 15m to the N, and measures 4.1m by 3.1m within a stone wall spread to 0.9m in thickness and 0.4m in height.
(Canna 427-9, 450).
Visited by RCAHMS (IMS, ARG), 30 June 1994.
