For field-system, lazy-beds and field clearance cairns between NG 2295 0509 and NG 2371 0556, see NG20NW 131.01.
A group of two enclosures and at least three stony mounds lies in an area of lazy-bed cultivation (NG20NW 131.01) in a field 600m to the NW of Tarbert farmstead (NG20NW 26).
The first enclosure (NG 2340 0593) is situated on gently sloping ground and appears to overlie the cultivation remains. It is subrectangular, measuring 6.2m from E to W by 5.2m within its coursed rubble walls. From its S side, stretches of an orthostatic wall extend to the NE and SW, the stretch to the SW occupying a gap in the cultivation remains, but that to the NE cut by the lazy-beds and surviving only as a row of intermittent boulders.
The second enclosure (NG 2345 0587) is D-shaped and lies in a slight hollow surrounded by lazy-beds 70m to the SE; it measures 5.8m from N to S by 5.2m within a stone wall 1m in thickness and 0.5m in height and there is a possible entrance on the NE. Two of the mounds lie to the W of this enclosure and are overlain by another length of ruinous stone wall which drops downslope from a crag. The first is only 4m in diameter and 0.6m in height, but the second, which is at the foot of the crag, is subrectangular and much larger, measuring 25m from ESE to WNW by 9.4m and 0.7m in height. This mound has been damaged by rabbit burrowing, and contains a considerable quantity of stones, some of which is evidently structural.
The third mound (NG 2339 0588) is located towards the top of a slope and it too contains some structural stones. Oval on plan, it measures 5.7m from NNE to SSW by 4.6m and 0.4m in height, but it is partly obscured by later field clearance. Several clearance cairns are visible amongst the cultivation remains.
(Canna 421-5; 981).
