NG20NE 100 centred 2510 0566
This group of three huts and four oval stony mounds lies at the foot of a scree slope below a crag, immediately to the W of the plot of lazy-bed cultivation NG20NE 109.01. Of the huts, two are subrectangular on plan, the larger (NG 2514 0566) having two compartments and measuring 4m from N to S by 1.6m transversely within a stony bank 1.4m in thickness and 0.3m in height. The smaller (NG 2509 0565) is also defined by a stony bank and has traces of its inner face still visible on the NE; it has been damaged by rabbit burrowing, and two sherds of pottery were recovered from the upcast of the burrows. Internally this hut measures 2.2m by 1.9m and is set towards the SE end of an oval stony mound. The third hut (NG 2513 0567) is 1.8m in diameter within a stony bank spread up to 1.2m thick and 0.3m high, and here traces of the inner face also survive. The stony mounds are probably the remains of other collapsed huts and are all of similar dimensions, ranging in size from 5.7m by 4.9m to 6.4m by 5.5m.
(Canna 838-44).
Visited by RCAHMS (ARG), 10 April 1995.
A single sherd of pottery was recovered in a rabbit scrape into the hut located at NG 2513 0567 during fieldwork in May 2001.
(Finds to be deposited in the NMS).
Visited by RCAHMS (ARG, SPH), 10 May 2001.
