A farmstead, overlooking the 19th century farmhouse at Tornapress from a W-facing slope, was noted during a pre-afforestation survey of part of the Couldoran Estate. The farmstead comprises two buildings with attached byres as well as three smaller structures situated to the S and SE. Both the buildings measure c.14m in length from approximately N to S by 4m in width over walls spread to 1.2m in width and standing up to 0.4m in height. The N building has a small enclosure immediately in front of it to the W and a larger enclosure to the E. Between the two buildings, there are two other structures on the same alignment. One measures c.3m square and the second c.6m from N to S by c.3.5m over walls spread to 0.8m in width and standing up to 0.3m in height.
The three smaller buildings are situated beside the track leading NE from Tomnapress bridge. That at NG c.8380 4212 is a rectangular structure measuring c.6m by 3m over walls, which incorporate natural outcrops, spread to c.0.6m in width and standing up to c.0.3m in height. Given the amount of naturally outcropping rock in the area, it is conceivable that the structure is no more than a linear patterning of field clearance. The two other structures, at NG c.8385 4217, are shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1971). The SW structure is horseshoe-shaped, measuring c.4m by 2m over stones spread to c.0.8m in width and c.0.6m in height. The second structure is rectangular and measures c.6m by 3.5m over stones spread to c.0.8m in width and c.0.4m in height. It has rounded ends.
