Full Description

NH63NE 44 685 378.

Centred at NH 685 378 are two cairns (A & B ) and four probable cairns (C-F ) all heather-covered.
'A' on a knoll measures 7.0m in diameter and 0.9m. high, with a kerb of stones on edge for half the periphery around the S arc and marked by a single slab on edge in the N arc. There is an earthfast boulder in the centre.
'B', on a knoll, measures 9.0m in diameter and 1.2m high with a kerb visible as occasional stones on edge, most of which are inclined outwards.
'C', is a circular flat-topped stony mound measuring c.7.5m in diameter by c. 0.4m high.
'D' is a stony mound measuring c. 7.5m in diameter by 0.7m
'E', is a stony mound measuring c. 8.0m in diameter by c. 1.1m high. 'F', is a stony flat-topped mound measuring 6.5m in diameter by 0.4m high. Occasional set stones around the perimeter may be the vestiges of a kerb.
C-F are similar in appearance to stone clearance heaps, but their size, isolation and regularity of outline suggests that they are burial cairns. They occur on level ground below the knoll which 'A' and 'B' occupy.
Surveyed at 1/10,000.
Visited by OS (A A) 18 March 1970.
