Full Description

NH63NE 8 6817 3540.

(NH 6817 3540) A circle composed of 14 irregular boulders - i.e. not flat slabs on edge - having a diameter of 44 - 45', is on a low knoll rising from boggy ground. It could be the residue of a hut circle. Information from A A Woodham to OS 9 August 1963.

This area was thoroughly perambulated but no trace of a stone circle was seen, or anything which might be taken for a stone circle. At NH 6821 3540 are the fragmentary remains of a possible circular enclosure 11.3m overall diameter. Nothing was seen of Woodham's circle of 14 boulders. Visited by OS (W D J) 5 September 1963.

Woodham's "hut circle" and F.1's "circular enclosure" are both fortuitous arrangements of boulders and not antiquities.
Visited by OS (R L) 12 January 1970.
