NH63NW 1 648 395.

(Area NH 648 395) Essich: The remains of a strong building may be seen under "grass-green mounds overlooking the burn" (Essich Burn) There are no confirmed records before circa 1543 from which date Essich is definitely recorded. In the 16th and 17th centuries it is traditionally reported as the meeting place of the local chiefs.

Enquiries of Essich, and consultation with the owner of the property failed to establish the site of this building.
