Creag Eilgheidh
A turf dyke was recorded during survey work by Headland Archaeology Ltd in 1998 (Survey site 7). The dyke runs roughly N to S from the stream Allt na Seana Gheid to the crags of Creag Eilgheidh. It appears as a grass bank 3 to 4m wide and 0.5 to 0.9m high. The wider parts of the bank have a slightly concave top with low ridges along the edges of the dyke. The narrower segments have a convex profile. There is a gap in the turf dyke towards the N end which is blocked by a drystone wall 0.5 to 0.6m wide, 0.9m high and 8.5m long. The dyke is represented on the 1st edition OS map as a double line with the narrower segments shown as a single line. The map also shows a second straight boundary running N to S just E of the turf dyke. This boundary is part of a larger set of boundaries towards the W. (see NG81NW 47).
