NH 907 145 An archaeological watching brief was maintained on the excavation for a pathway (NH 9050 1414 - NH 9103 1473) as part of the Speyside Way, the line of the path lying in the vicinity of a number of known archaeological sites.
Excavation revealed two areas of rig and furrow at NH 9067 1448 and NH 9058 1431. Both areas were not visible on the surface before the commencement of work. The area of rig and furrow at NH 9058 1431 was cut by a post-medieval trackway. The rig and furrow is likely to be medieval in date. Also found was a possible clearance cairn at NH 9044 1405.
A report has been lodged with Highland SMR and the NMRS.
Sponsor: Highland Council Countryside Section.
