A farmstead, comprising two buildings, one with an attached yard, lying on a W-facing slope to the N of Sailean nam Ba, was noted during a pre-afforestation survey of the NE part of the Drimnin Estate.
The principal building (NMRS MS 1012/1, no.174) is rectangular with rounded corners. It measures 16.5m from N to S by 4.9m over 0.7m thick, coursed drystone walls, displaying a pronounced batter and standing up to 1.7m in height. The corners rest on boulder grounders. There are two entrances and one possible window in the W wall. A rectangular enclosure, possibly a kailyard, abuts the E wall. The building lies within a small field-system (NMRS MS 1012/1, nos. 169, 170, 172, 176 and 177), defined by a head-dyke, on the better ground between outcrops. A wall (NMRS MS 1012/1, no.180), running N to S along the W side of the farmstead forms the boundary with the township to the W (NM55NE 8.04).
Outwith the field-system to the N, a herringbone pattern of nineteen drains feed into a main drain cutting through a natural hollow between more rocky ground.
J G Robertson December 1997; NMRS MS 1012/1, nos.169-81
