A turf and stone dyke, crossing the open ground to the NE of Meall Mor, was recorded during a pre-afforestation survey of Resipole Farm. The dyke commences towards the head of the Allt Mhic Chairain, and running in a south-easterly direction, crosses the saddle between an unnamed hill and Meall Mor before dropping down to the Allt Eachain. It then continues above the SE bank of this burn until joining the head-dyke overlooking Loch Sunnart to the SW. The dyke, which is up to 2m wide and 1m high, is probably a march-dyke.
Although not depicted on either the 1st or 2nd editions of the OS 6-inch map (Argyllshire 1875, sheet xxvii and 1900, sheet xxvii.NW), its course is shown on the current edition of the OS 1:10000 map (1973). Given the substantial nature of the dyke, it is likely to have been omitted from the earlier maps.

NM 735 645 (centre) A survey, undertaken as part of a WGS application, covered 62ha on the NW slopes of Meall Mor approximately 1km to the NE of Resipole. The only archaeological feature noted within the survey area was a substantial stone and turf dyke up to 2m wide and up to 1m high. This is likely to have been constructed as a part of post-medieval agricultural improvements in the area.
A full report has been lodged with the NMRS.
