Full Description

A building, situated on the S-facing slopes above Tom na Fhearna, was recorded during a pre-afforestation survey at Dalchreichart by Wordsworth Archaeological Services in 1998. It measures 7m from E to W by 4m. The walls stand up to 1m in height, where best preserved, but are collpased elsewhere. There is an entrance on the S. A small area of peat-cuttings, measuring c.50m by 20m, lies to the N and the building may have been a bothy for the peat cutters. The building is depicted, roofed, on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map but it is shown as unroofed on the 2nd edition of the same map. <2>
