Full Description

A late C19 hospital in Grantown-on-Spey.

The building was assessed for listing by Historic Scotland in 2015 as part of the NHS estate review and again in 2016. On both occasions it was found not to meet the listing criteria. Alexander Smith, 1884; Malcolm S. McCallum, extended circa 1923; George Bennett Mitchell & Son, further alterations and additions by 1936; maternity ward and staff accommodation, 1958. Single storey and attic, 6-bay, H-plan cottage hospital, with advanced outer bays. Later extensive irregular plan additions to the north and west. Coursed and squared rubble whinstone with buff sandstone dressings and quoins. <1>
