(NH 602 422) Cairns (NR) (Five shown)
OS 6" map, Inverness-shire, 2nd ed., (1906)
There are a few stone cairns in the fir plantation about 1/2 mile NE of Blair na Henachrie croft.
Name Book 1872.
In the area centred NH 601 422, in dense afforestation, there are five small grass-covered cairns varying in diameter from 5.2m to 7.0m, and in height from 0.5m to 0.8m. Two of the cairns have small excavation trenches in the top. The cairns appear to be genuine, and not merely field clearance heaps.
Visited by OS (R D) 30 November 1964.
About 20 stone clearance heaps, 2 of them excavated, were seen in the area of the published 'cairns'. Any trace of associated fields and huts is concealed or destroyed by afforestation.
Visited by OS (R L) 9 September 1969.
