NH90NE 10 95 09.

This canal or 'waterway system' in the area of Loch Morlich, situated four miles E of Aviemore, was constructed at a height in excess of 1,000 feet above sea level. Abandoned in about 1850, a railway-network, which was itself closed in 1918, took over its role, which was to float timber to the River Spey. The system was in all probability based on existing streams.
J Lindsay 1968.

Neither this waterway, nor the ensiuing railway, can be traced with any certainty on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire).
Information from RCAHMS (MD) 11 July 2002.
