Full Description

NH64NE 135 667 452.

A shell deposit c. 1ft (0.3m) thick was noted c. 10ft (3.3m) down when a bank was built on the E corner of Castle and High Streets. Though this may represent the remains of a mesolithic shell midden, it is unlikely to be contemporary with the nearby midden described on NH64NE 104 as the deposit would have been subject to the erosive effects of the marine transgressions noted there.
J Wordsworth 1985.
