Full Description
A stone and turf dyke starting 1.3m north of the terminal strainer in the fence NM76SE0033. The dyke runs from ngr:17991 76133 to ngr:17990 76138. The dyke heads north from this fence for 30m before turning north-east for a further 25m and ternminating alongside the old public highway. The dyke stands 0.4m high on the east side and 0.6m high on the west. It has a spread of 1.5m. A quarry ditch lies to the west. The dyke is thought to have been designed to keep animals out of the area to the east, which could have been cultivated. This area appears in the Estate Plan of 1807 as field no. 20 - 3,100 acres of pasture or moor.
