Full Description

NH62NW 46 6483 2902.

In rough grassland, on a S-facing hillside some 600m ESE of Garoline township (NH62NW 45), there is a group of four rectangular buildings. Three of them measure between 9.6m and 11.8m in length and between 3.1m and 3.6m in breadth within faced-rubble walls measuring up to 0.8m in thickness. The fourth building (USN93 334) measures only 2.8m in length and 2.6m in breadth but it may have formed the N compartment of a larger structure, the rest of which has been obscured beneath piles of rubble. Two of the buildings (USN93 333 and 336) each have a recess in one side. The recess in USN93 333 measures 0.9m in depth and 1.4m in breadth while that in USN93 336 has been partially destroyed but also measured 0.9m in depth. These may be small bedneuks. Building USN93 333 also has an enclosure measuring 10.7m square, attached to its WNW side. The 1st edition of the Ordnance Survey 6-inch map (Inverness-shire 1874, sheet xxxi) shows USN93 333, which was by then roofless.
