Information from ARCH Community Timeline Project: Auldearn:

There was an SSPCK school established sometime in the 18th century at Fornighty. Between 1872 and 1883 a new school was built there. There were plans to close the school after 1883, but Brodie of Lethen kept it open at his own expense. The school closed in 1970, and is now a private home.
