Full Description
Discovery of human skull reported to Wick Police on 22nd October. Police went to investigate site from which it had been removed. Reported as lying on rocks among seaweed c500yds N of the car park beside he beach. No other human remains identified, so suggested washed up from elsewhere.
Passed to pathologists at Raigmore, Inverness who declared it more than 100yrs old. Telephone call from police 11/11/2004.
Paul Humphreys has agreed to check beach area. Reports of cists burials in mound further to the north on the Links (ND35NW0009). No further finds found (walked 1km up beach). Only 1 possible area of earlier ground surfaces being exposed but not conclusive.
Discussions with HS, there will be no HRCA unless further finds are identified - HAW 11/2004
Inverness Museum suggested that have no interest in this, should be re-buried in Caithness area - HAW 11/2004
