Full Description

Notification to SMR by local residents of possible midden on the beach on S side of main stream outlet. Site visit reveals darker organic layer over beach in terraces to W of the beach. Erosion is revealing a reasonably large collection of shells (whelks?) not normally seen on this beach and scattering of limpets. At higher levels broken animal bones and very small scatter of relatively modern china and kitchenwares.
Plus 1 sherd of medieval pottery.
Probable midden layer, but probably not long lived. No trace of building here.
