Full Description

Curling pond marked on 2nd ed OS in woods to the N of the Killen Lake.
This lake was created in 1895 landscaping programme when water course on which the curling pond sits was dammed to create it and pools, dams etc created to feed an electricity house as well to S. <1>

A website user noted that the location assigned to this record was incorrect. This has now been corrected. The curling pond is formed in concrete which is still visible if the top 2-3'' of soil is scraped away. Alder saplings now cover the whole of the rink. <2>
