Full Description

Cairns (NR) OS 6" map, Caithness, 2nd ed., (1907)

Scattered along the slope of the hill below the hut circles (ND12NW 1) are a number of mounds, from 12-18ft in diameter and 2-2.5ft in height.
RCAHMS 1911, visited 1910.

These are field clearance heaps, associated with the nearby hut circles. Visited by OS (W D J) 21 June 1960.

A field system of meandering field walls, set deep in peat, and numerous clearance heaps, exposed by recent heather burning.
Visited by OS (N K B) 9 September 1982.
