Full Description

NH62NE 18 6513 2883.

On the E bank of a small burn, on a SW-facing hillside some 250m SW of the township (NH62NE 17), there is a township comprising at least
nine buildings and a number of small enclosures. Most of the buildings lie across the contours, but few of them have levelled interiors, rather their interiors slope from one end to the other.
Several buildings have been robbed and the walls of all structures are, for the most part, reduced to stony banks or grassed-over footings, but their principal measurements can be established. With one exception they range from 6.2m to 11.9m in length by 2.8m to 6.2m in breadth over walls spread to 1.4m in thickness. At least four of them have bowed sides and their corners, where visible, tend to be rounded. The exception (USN93 415) is located at the N end of the settlement, across a burn from the other structures. It is considerably larger, measuring 17.2m in length by 4.5m in breadth over stone footings 0.9m in thickness, and has square corners.
None of these buildings is depicted on the 1st edition of the 6-inch map (Inverness-shire, 1874, sheet xxxi), although the largest of the enclosures, which are presumably associated with the buildings, is shown.
